In the context of Wedding Lingerie, its versatility can truly be realised. 

Over the years, I have gathered some examples through my work with brides-to-be, where the simple Slip Dress has become the foundation or forefront of a bride’s wedding day look. My time with these individuals has usually started by taking a theme or a small element, and working from that as a starting point, always resulting in a truly wonderful and unique look. Talking to a highly-skilled Seamstress is the best route for brides who want a more bespoke (or upcycled) look when it comes to the wedding dress.

A few Keturah Brown instances come to mind…

A bride came to me with an amazing 1950's Gown. Bought for a mere £50 from a market stall, it was made from ivory polyester (itchy!) and was roughly put together. However, the style and shape were great. I created a simple silk crêpe de chine slip to go under the gown so that the rough finish on the inside was not scratching the skin. The Slip Dress served as an underlay for the dress to sit smoothly.
At the time, my price was just more than double that of the original purchase but made the 1950’s dress look like a million dollars! Another happy bride.

I recall another bride, who came to me with a simple crocheted cap from her grandmother. Her request? Could I make a dress to complement the cap? Well, I love a challenge and I love the thirties when caps were all the rage (and yes, we also wore the same simple beret look in the very early seventies).
 
I created a bias-cut 1930’s style slip dress in silk, featuring lovely lace detail at the back... It was a wonderfully chic look. I am happy to have an image to show you, too!

One final favourite tale? One bride loved the Keturah Brown Slip Dress I made so much, she wore it for the last dance before leaving and departing up to bed. How is that for a versatile piece of clothing!
